I had a tough time wading through the different packs on the market. My last pack was a Jansport that could carry a small elephant and had lots of loops, straps, and other assorted bells and whistles. Most of those bells and whistles I never used and some of them I never figured out what they were for. After doing a bit of research and deciding what features were important to me, I went with the Odyssey from GoLite. I decided that I needed a pack that would last a few years and that I wanted to go as light as possible, but I had to balance that with my small budget.
